Wine on the Vine: Replanting the Roots of Zionism
š Why Wine on the Vine Exists
- ⢠A New Face for Zionism
Launched in 2017, Wine on the Vine was created by the Israel Innovation Fund (TIIF) to reboot Zionism for the 21st century. It offers a fresh, cultural way to connect to Israelāespecially for the next generationāoutside the traditional frameworks of politics or religion.
- ⢠From Trees to Vines
Inspired by the tradition of planting trees in Israel, Wine on the Vine instead turns to grapevinesāsymbols of deep roots, growth, creativity, and continuity. The vine ties biblical legacy to modern Israeli innovation, technology, agriculture, and, of course, world-class wine.
- ⢠Cultural Rebranding
TIIF made Wine on the Vine its flagship initiative to transform how the world engages with Israel, not through conflict, but through culture. Wine becomes a new language of Zionismāpersonal, meaningful, and deeply rooted in the culture.
š± How It Works and Grows
- Plant Your Vine
Anyone around the world can symbolically plant a grapevine at a top Israeli winery. You receive a digital certificate and message, and your name takes root in Israeli soil.
- Cultural Connection & Events
WOTV hosts global wine tastings, vineyard tours, and āJaffa Nightsā events worldwide. It also launched Wine with Adam, a video series in which TIIF CEO Adam Scott interviews leading Zionist thinkersāsuch as Natan Sharansky and Gil Troyāwhile sharing a bottle of Israeli wine.
- Building the Wine Economy
Wine on the Vine plays a vital economic role by supporting Israeli wineries, farmers, and the broader agricultural sector. From north to south, planting vines strengthens both the land and the livelihoods that depend on it.
šÆ Why It Matters
- ⢠Planting Culture, Not Just Crops
As Bellos puts it, wine is āa modern expression of our ancient tradition⦠the deepest part of our culture.ā Planting vineyards is a declaration: we are still here, and we are still growing. By 2019, more than 4,000 vines had already been planted through the platform.
- ⢠Zionism Made Personal
Wine on the Vine offers a non-political, non-religious way to engage with Israel. You donāt need to live thereāyou can plant a vine, order a bottle, or attend an event and feel just as connected.
- ⢠Direct Economic Impact
Every bottle purchased and every vine planted supports Israeli businesses, farmers, and the land itself. Itās a direct line from your hands to Israelās soil.
